A land of ancient origins, Sicily experienced a time of great splendour during the temples of Magna Graecia and the Roman Empire. Precious testimonies of those glorious times are the temples, ruins and works of art that have been handed down to the present day and that we can admire in Sicily's museums and archaeological parks. The iconic attraction of archaeological Sicily is the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, but no less impressive are the archaeological sites of Segesta and Selinunte, two eternally rival cities. A unique experience can be had in Taormina, where the past is not only an attraction to be admired but also an event to be experienced: its magnificent Greek theatre, located in an enviable position overlooking the sea, is still used today for theatre, dance and music performances.
